Usher Hall and the city's concert scene
Usher Hall, in Edinburgh's West End, is the city's premier concert venue for vocal and orchestral acts, offering strong sightlines and acoustics throughout its classical concert-hall design. Its autumn programme regularly includes major names in music and entertainment.
Murrayfield Stadium, on the western edge of the city, is Scottish rugby's home ground and hosts major international fixtures alongside occasional large-scale concerts.
Edinburgh's Christmas
From mid-November through to early January, Edinburgh's Christmas transforms East Princes Street Gardens and St Andrew Square into a market, big wheel and ice rink festival, with Edinburgh Castle providing one of the more dramatic backdrops of any UK Christmas market. The market itself is free to browse, with rides and some attractions ticketed separately.
Getting around
Edinburgh Waverley station sits right in the centre of the city, within walking distance of both the main Christmas festival sites and Usher Hall. Haymarket station is a closer option specifically for Usher Hall and the West End.
The city centre is compact and highly walkable — for most events listed on this site, you're unlikely to need to drive or take public transport once you're in the centre.
